Since you are connected to my dad, Steve Knight, by two degrees-- don't even think about having a wedding reception.

Someone. Please. Take. Wuthering. Heights. Out. Of. My. ITunes.

Some kind soul--I have no idea who-- must have sensed my need for something else to listen to, because he/she just sent me an mp3 of Tori Amos' "Marys of the Sea" from Dallas. It's just as righteous as I remember it being that night.

After about five attempts in various U.S cities, she FINALLY nailed this tricky bitch; the piano/organ transition is seamless, and it's sung with, like, attitude.

But the best part is, I knew right during the middle of this, the first song of the night, that "Here. In My Head" would FINALLY come out later in the set. (Listen for the 'it's here inside my head" improv. after the second verse.) Tori Amos- Marys of the Sea (Dallas).

OK. Back to Kate.

Happy Friday, everyone!

I'm so glad I work for a company that reveres the F-word. Click here to watch the video of a local newsguy who got fired for dropping it on air. Hilarious.

How come nobody told me the British press refers to Justin Timberlake as "Justin Trousersnake"? Kudos to Casey for filling me in.

I've become quite obsessed with Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" lately--which is unfortunate for my vocal chords. I can't fathom a more difficult song to sing, and let me tell you I butcher it like the last pig in the pool.

"How could you leave MEEEEEEEE when I need to possess youuuuuu. I hated you/ILovedYouToo........IT'S ME CATHEEEEEEEEEEEE"

YESSSSS!!!

Someone who wasn't intending to put me in stiches asked me if I thought Tori Amos would ever cover this song. Seriously, that question did more for my abdominal muscles than the 325 sit-ups I did last night. I don't even think Mariah Carey circa 1991 could hit those high notes. My twink has been practicing vigorously, but he says the repetitive ending is too killer for him to record in one take. As soon as he gets his hands on some protools and lays it down, I'll post it here.

Speaking of Ms. Amos, it looks like she's playing that same Detroit venue (Meadowbrook Music Festival in Auburn Hills) I saw her in back on the Lottapianos tour on August 28th. Now all we need is a Camden NJ date to complete the AssualtLanta/DeathTroit triumvirate of terrifying metropolitan areas to endure in the name of a concert. (Although I will give Chastain Amphitheatre snaps for having a Starbucks stand.) Still hoping she'll play LA on my birthday, though I think this tour extending through 9/22 is a long shot. I'll probs. only be able to go to a few local shows. I will make an effort to go to Chicago, Texas, or Nasvhille (if she plays the Ryman)--but that's it. Have fun in those amphitheatres, kids.
