Jeremy's Knowledgeable Explanation of the Sound Difficulties

From my Camden experience (only show I'll be attending on this tour) I experienced the following sound-wise:

#1: Many of the echoes of tori's parts were set incorrectly or improperly positioned such that the echo don't go along with the tempo. They were just sorta dangling out there. This shouldn't ever be an issue but in this instance it was. Compare any show from the last portion of the Scarlet's Walk tour and it becomes even more gruesomely apparent that they are just done poorly.

#2: The bass was turned up way too much quite often.

#3: Tori's levels were off for most of the night. Many times I felt that her playing just got lost in the mix. This was worse when it came to the organ, less of problem with the piano (though the lows got lost there too.) I kinda thought the piano sounded a bit muddy too. Her voice levels were often f'ed... but it was so cute though when she did her little "hey sound guy, you're totally fucking up so I'm going to sing a little diddy until you get it where I want it... oh dear god I can't believe I've got to do this.... where do we get these people anyway." Or rather that was my translation of her little "almost there, almost there" help. Where was my camera anyway? I would have loved a photo of her face during that moment.

Those were the major things. I remember sitting there during the show picking individual things out, but they've since blurred a bit. I know carbon was just one big fuck up sound wise... he had his shit together most of the rest of that solo bit after she fixed it for him. He struggled pulling it back together with the band on Sweet Sangria. Bass started out way to overpowering and had no where to go from there and tori's echoes were f'ed in I Can't See New York. Oh... and I remember Girl being a bit too much on drums and bass. I'd love to try and remember my drum feelings, sound-wise, for that show, but I just had too much fun watching him to worry about the sound. I'm a drummer and therefore focus a lot of my attention towards watching the drummer... and although i was picking lots of stupid picky things out with him, I can't ever really complain. Matt is a lot of fun to watch. I was so jealous when I read your interview and it was especially funny when he said they were going to cover a RUSH song... because Neil Peart (Rush's drummer) is the envy of many drummers... so to cover one of their songs would be a lot of fun to watch Matt play.
